The new battleground for cable news is the 5 to 6 a.m. (ET) time slot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Today, Fox News launched “Fox & Friends First,” an hour-long show that leads into “Fox & Friends”, which runs from 6 to 9 a.m. The show will have rotating hosts. It joins CNN and others in the fight for pre-dawn viewership. CNN has a relatively new early-morning show in the 5 to 6 a.m. time slot called “Early Start,” hosted by Ashleigh Banfield and Zoraida Sambolin.

CNN and Fox News are available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
