The Association of Cable Communicators (ACC) recently announced the winners of the 2012 Beacon Awards.  The Beacons honor excellence in cable communications and public affairs. Among the winners are two Suddenlink-supported community outreach programs.

The Suddenlink Mid South Region received a Beacon Award for Community Relations for its partnership with Arkansas State University on the Johnny Cash Music Festival, held in Jonesboro, Ark.  The event featured performances by Cash’s friends and family members, and proceeds went toward the renovation and preservation of the late country music legend’s childhood home in Dyess, Ark.

The San Angelo cable system was recognized with a Beacon Award for Events and Observances for hosting the 2012 Suddenlink Open Tony Gibson Memorial Bass Tournament. The annual event kicks off the area’s bass fishing tournament season and proceeds benefit Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA). The tournament is named for Tony Gibson, a 2009 tournament winner.  The Gibson family received support from HOSA before Tony passed away in late 2009.
