Three original cable series will premiere tonight: Discovery Channel’s “How We Invented the World,” Spike TV’s “Urban Tarzan,” and ABC Family’s “Twisted.”

“How We Invented the World” examines four modern inventions: cell phones, cars, planes, and skyscrapers. Each episode in this four-part series reveals the stories and seemingly random events that ultimately led to the creation of these inventions. It airs at 8 p.m. CT.

On “Urban Tarzan,” get to know a famed animal wrangler and former Steve Irwin associate who rescues escaped animals. Showtime is 9:30 p.m. CT.

On “Twisted,” a troubled teen reconnects with two childhood friends. This is a special presentation of the pilot episode, which will play again June 11 as a kickoff to the show’s summer run. Tonight’s show starts at 8 p.m. CT.

Discovery Channel, Spike TV and ABC Family are available to all or virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.
