In a change that reflects the increasing use of technology in classrooms, more teachers are letting students use tablets and smartphones to study for exams. Some even let them take exams online. Tonight: Star-Studded ‘Going For Gold’ Special


Matt Lauer will host “Going For Gold” tonight on NBC, 7 p.m. CT. The one-hour special won’t spotlight Olympic athletes. Rather, Lauer will be sitting down with Golden Globe nominees.

According to NBC News, “Going For Gold” will feature such small screen stars as Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”).

Theater favorites like Bradley Cooper (“American Hustle”), Alfre Woodard (“12 Years a Slave”), and Justin Timberlake (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) will also be interviewed.

The Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday on NBC, 7 p.m. Red Carpet coverage will begin at 6.

History Presents 12 Hours of JFK

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, History today is offering two blocks of JFK documentary specials. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, four classic History documentaries will play back-to-back. They are, in order, “The Lost Kennedy Movies,” “JFK: 3 Shots that Changed America (Parts 1 and 2),” and “The Kennedy Assassination: 24 Hours After.”

An evening programming block will include the debuts of “JFK Assassination: The Definitive Guide” (7 p.m.) and “Lee Harvey Oswald: 48 Hours to Live” (9 p.m.).
