New On Demand: ‘Before Midnight’

Critically acclaimed romantic drama “Before Midnight” is now available through Suddenlink On Demand.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy return in this sequel to “Before Sunrise” (1995) and “Before Sunset” (2004). “Before Midnight” finds Jesse and Celine still in Greece, nine years after the last film and nearly two decades since they first met on a train bound for Vienna.

MythBusters Explore Zombie Questions Tonight

What would happen if there really was a zombie invasion? That’s the topic the MythBusters explore tonight (9 p.m. CT) in a “Walking Dead”-themed Zombie Special on Discovery Channel. With help from former “Walking Dead” star Michael Rooker, the MythBusters will answer a variety of zombie-apocalyptic questions, such as “How do those shuffling corpses always seem to catch up to their living prey?”

Discovery Bows 9/11, White House Specials Tonight

Tonight, Discovery offers two new specials, “9/11 Firehouse” (7 p.m. CT), followed immediately by “The Presidents’ Gatekeepers.”

9/11 Firehouse” documents the story of the “Ten House” firefighters, who were the first to enter and the last to leave the Twin Towers during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the United States. For the first time on national television, the firefighters collectively recall their stories. NBC’s Willie Geist narrates.

The Presidents’ Gatekeepers” features exclusive interviews with all 20 living White House chiefs of staff and former presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush.

9/11 Anniversary Programming Starts This Weekend

Beginning tomorrow and running through next week, new and returning television documentaries, specials and movies will mark the 12th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America. Channel Guide Magazine has a lengthy list of programming that will recall the events and their impact on the country.

Included are specials on Animal Planet, History, Discovery Channel and CNN, which are available to virtually all Suddenlink customers who have what is commonly known as Expanded Basic TV service.

Shark Week Starts Sunday on Discovery

The 26th edition of Shark Week, television’s longest-running summer TV event, returns to Discovery Channel on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. CT. Over the course of the week, Discovery will present 11 episodes, three more than last year.

Shows will be coupled with the first-ever late night Shark Week talk show, “Sharks After Dark.” Hosts of the hour-long show will highlight favorite moments from the week’s action and talk to guests ranging from shark experts to shark attack survivors.

Discovery Honoring ‘Storm Chasers’ Tonight

Tonight at 9 p.m. CT, Discovery Channel will pay tribute to the three “Storm Chasers” stars who were killed gathering scientific data during last week’s Oklahoma tornadoes. To honor Tim Samaras, Carl Young and Paul Samaras, Discovery Channel will air an enhanced episode of “Mile Wide Tornado: Oklahoma Disaster” that will include highlights and special scenes of all three men from past episodes of the “Storm Chasers” series.

Tonight: ‘Mythbusters’ Looks at Gender

On tonight’s new “MythBusters” episode, “Battle of the Sexes, Part 2,” the team will test a few gender generalizations. 

Tune in at 8 p.m. (CT) to find out whether women really are better multi-taskers; whether men who are lost really refuse to ask for directions; and which gender is better at parallel parking.
